“Demokratielabore” is a project of the Open Knowledge Foundation Germany, in which we conduct workshops on digital, technological and social issues with young people in youth centers. We encourage them to actively participate in society.
Working with data and the processes of digitization are also becoming increasingly important for nonprofit organizations. From October to December 2017, we held two workshops with youth experts on this topic. The aim was to work up and discuss experiences from everyday digital work. In addition, we carried out a survey on digital skills, data and tools with different representatives of youth work. The results of our analysis and tips from the workshops are summarized here. From January to July 2018, we held four workshops on the use of open data in youth work, digital storytelling, Citizen Science and Twitter analysis. The learning materials are available here. In addition, we organized a Data Expedition and a data walk through Berlin Kreuzberg.
